About

Maddy is a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, concentrating in Mechatronics and minoring in Computer Science and Studio Art. Her passion lies at the intersection of storytelling and engineering, especially in the world of themed entertainment, where she focuses on animatronic fabrication and ADA accessibility to ensure everyone can experience the magic of attractions.

After completing an internship with the Walt Disney Company through the Disney College Program, where she gained insight into guest experience, behind-the-scenes operations, and leadership development, she returned to Cal Poly to lead a full-scale animatronic build of DJ R-3X from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. As project lead, she guides a multidisciplinary team through the full animatronic lifecycle, from CAD modeling in SolidWorks and FEA simulations to hands-on fabrication, automation integration, and systems testing.

She is also an active member and board member of CAPED (Cal Poly Amusement Park Engineers and Designers), where she has contributed to award-winning ride engineering competition teams. Beyond themed entertainment, she is the president of Cal Poly Archery and is certified in welding, milling, and lathe operation through the Cal Poly Machine Shop.

Whether teaching teammates how to wire a control system or troubleshooting a mechanical prototype, Maddy is driven by connection, creativity, and building experiences that make people feel something unforgettable.
