Role Description
The Digital Accessibility Specialist supports the implementation of accessible design practices across Big Break's digital experiences and provides guidance on compliance with accessibility standards, including WCAG. The ideal candidate is passionate about disability inclusion and knowledgeable about accessibility best practices.
Anticipated commitment is 3-5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Assess and enhance the accessibility of Big Break’s digital platforms, programs, and resources, ensuring alignment with ADA, WCAG, and related standards
Develop and remediate materials for accessibility (e.g., alternative text, transcripts, and screen reader-accessible documents).
Provide training and resources to staff, volunteers, and partners on best practices for digital accessibility..
Assist in arranging accommodations such as sign language interpretation, captioning, assistive technologies, and alternative formats for content.
Stay informed about evolving digital accessibility laws, best practices, and technologies.
Support the development of Big Break’s accessibility policies and guidelines.
Qualifications
Experience in accessibility coordination, disability advocacy, or related field.
Experience conducting accessibility audits and implementing accessibility solutions.
Strong knowledge of WCAG and other accessibility standards.
Passion for promoting inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in the Location-Based Experience industry.
This is a professional volunteer position with an anticipated commitment of 3-5 hours per week. As a Digital Accessibility Specialist you will play an essential role in supporting Big Break Foundation's mission.
