Role Description


The Grant Researcher supports Big Break Foundation’s development strategy and planning by identifying potential philanthropic funding sources and opportunities, and collaborating with the Development Director to incorporate appropriate opportunities into the organization’s annual development calendar. This role involves research and profile development, networking, and logistical planning. The Grant Researcher will work closely with the Development Director and Fundraising Chair.


Anticipated commitment is 3-5 hours per week.


Responsibilities

  • Identify new funding opportunities from traditional philanthropy (i.e. private foundations, community foundations, family foundations) and corporate social responsibility offices.

  • Generate briefs on funders and grant opportunities for the Development team to review.

  • Facilitate introductions between funders and Development Director and Fundraising Chair when possible/appropriate.

  • Monitor organizational grant calendar and collaborate with Development Director and Development Team Coordinator to ensure projects (i.e. Letters of Intent, Proposals, Grant Applications) are on time.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in online research and/or in-person networking.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and communicate needs to staff or other volunteers.

  • Knowledge of philanthropic foundations (particularly in the USA) a plus.

  • Experience writing briefs or profiles a plus.


This is a professional volunteer position with an anticipated commitment of 3-5 hours per week.
